Terms and Conditions - Etna Excursions

Please read all conditions carefully before booking and participating in our excursions.

Each participant must review these terms, ask questions if needed, and report any equipment requirements.

The maximum number of participants indicated may vary by one unit.

For example, if the announced maximum is 10 people, we may add 1 additional participant, bringing the total to 11.

Updates and Itinerary Modifications

The day before the excursion, we will send you an update by email with weather and geodynamic information about Mount Etna.

The guide reserves the right to modify the itinerary, schedule, elevation gain, and altitude based on:

Weather conditions,
Geodynamic activity of the volcano,
The physical and psychological condition of the participants.

The duration of the excursion may vary from the information on the website, as the pace depends on the participants' physical condition and volcano conditions.

Participation Conditions

Health: Excellent physical condition is required. No tolerance for severe allergies, heart or respiratory problems, hypertension, bone or joint disorders.
Asthma and Pregnancy: People with asthma and pregnant women cannot participate due to the risks posed by volcanic gases.
Medical Conditions Disclosure: Any medical conditions, allergies, or treatments must be mentioned during registration.
Medical Access: Volcanic area without quick emergency services in case of need.
Safety Exclusion: The guide may exclude unfit or poorly equipped participants without refund.
Age: Some excursions have age restrictions.

Volcanic Activity and Safety

Mount Etna is an active volcano, and eruptions can occur without notice.

Before the excursion, an update of the conditions will be sent.

In case of volcanic activity, the itinerary will be adjusted to ensure your safety.

Cancellations and Refunds

In Case of Participant Unpreparedness

The guide may exclude you if you are deemed unfit (physically or psychologically) or lack appropriate equipment, with no possibility of a refund.

Weather or Geodynamic Conditions

If conditions are unfavorable, another date will be proposed.

If you cannot attend, a refund will be issued.

Client Cancellations

The refund period may take up to 30 days from the request.

Refunds are made by bank transfer to the provided IBAN.

Group Excursions:
- Free cancellation up to 31 days before.
- 30% penalty from 9 to 30 days before, 100% penalty from 1 to 8 days before.
Private Excursions:
- Free cancellation up to 31 days before.
- 100% penalty from 1 to 30 days before.

Consent and Risk Acceptance

Each participant must read and sign a risk consent form related to the activity.

Additional Information: Forecasts and Active Volcano

Volcanic gases may reduce visibility.

Weather forecasts are estimates and may change.

The excursion confirmation will be sent 24 hours before departure.

Excursion Modifications: Itinerary and Altitude

Depending on volcanic and weather conditions, participant level, and equipment, the guide may modify the schedule, route, and maximum altitude.

Delays and Punctuality

The meeting time and location will be confirmed by email.

The guide will wait up to 15 minutes after the scheduled time.

If the delay exceeds 15 minutes, the excursion will start without you, and no refund will be provided.

Maximum Altitude Reached

The altitude reached depends on trail conditions (snow, pyroclasts), weather (wind, fog), volcanic dynamics, and participants' physical condition.

Excursion Packages

Group Package

In group excursions, reaching the planned altitude and distance is not guaranteed.

Excellent physical condition and trekking experience are required.

If you encounter difficulties, the guide may escort you back without refund.

Private Package

In private excursions, you will benefit from a dedicated guide and flexibility to adjust the schedule and itinerary as desired.

Transfers

Transfers from your accommodation are not included.

A private taxi service is available upon request to reach the starting points.

Pets

Pets (including dogs) are not allowed during excursions, helicopter flights, or volcano accommodations.

Equipment and Gear

Provided Equipment: Helmet, flashlight, hiking poles, backpack, and rain jacket are included.
Hiking Shoes: High-cut hiking shoes are mandatory (rental available for €5 per pair).
Personal Equipment:
- Summer: Leggings or hiking pants, windproof jacket with hood.
- Winter: Hiking pants, fleece, warm jacket, gloves, hat.
Food and Water: Bring a picnic and 1.5 liters of water per person.

Satisfaction Guarantee and Refund Policy

If the experience does not satisfy you, we offer the opportunity to redo the excursion or receive a partial refund.

The guide may adjust the altitude or distance based on safety conditions.

Terms and Conditions - Helicopter Flights

Please read all terms and conditions carefully before booking and participating in our helicopter flight activities.

Each participant must review these terms, ask questions if needed, and report any equipment requirements.

A guide is generally not present on board, but if possible, we will provide one to enhance your experience.

Note that transfers from your hotel are not included in the price.

The flight time begins as soon as the engine starts, ensuring that every second from take-off to landing enriches your experience.

Confirmation or Cancellation

The day before the flight, we will contact you to check the weather and the geodynamic activity of the volcano.

The final confirmation (or cancellation) and the departure time will be communicated 24 hours before the flight by email or phone.

The exact meeting time (chosen or agreed upon) may vary depending on our availability, weather, and geodynamic conditions of Mount Etna.

Any changes will be communicated as soon as possible and no later than one hour before the flight.

In case of unfavorable weather or geodynamic conditions, the flight may be rescheduled for another available date.

If we cancel the flight, the amount paid will be refunded.

Weather Conditions and Volcanic Activity

Helicopter flights are subject to weather conditions and volcanic activity.

These natural elements can influence the flight route.

The pilot will choose the best route according to these conditions.

Active Volcano Operations

We operate on an active volcano, which means that gas emissions from the summit craters may affect visibility, and this phenomenon is unpredictable.

Weather forecasts remain estimates and cannot be guaranteed 100%.

If, after take-off, weather conditions are unfavorable and reaching or viewing the summit area of Mount Etna is not possible, the flight plan will be adjusted to showcase: Taormina, Castelmola, Isola Bella (Naxos), Castiglione di Sicilia Castle, Alcantara Gorges, and Calatabiano Castle.

Cancellation Policy

The refund period may take up to 30 days from the request.

Refunds are made by bank transfer to the provided IBAN.

Any client cancellation will be subject to the following cancellation fees:

Free cancellation up to 31 days before.
Cancellation from 9 to 30 days before the flight: 30% penalty.
No-show or cancellation 1 to 8 days before the flight: 100% penalty.

Participation Conditions

To participate in our flights, it is essential to be in perfect health, without severe allergies, heart, respiratory, blood pressure, bone, or joint problems.

Please inform us in advance (at the time of booking) if you are taking medication, specifying which ones, and if you have any pathologies, allergies, or intolerances of any kind.

Flights are prohibited for pregnant women and not recommended for children under 4 years old.

If the pilot considers you unfit to fly due to physical or psychological issues, they may refuse access to the flight, with no refund possible.
